Avocat Waterfall
This tour takes us along a scenic view around the North Coast of Trinidad with panoramic views. Then we hike to the waterfall where you can immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the environment. At the end of your journey, take time to relax in the soothing water of the plunge pool and let the spray of the waterfall give you the best massage of your life. After the hike, we take you on a scenic drive to Trinidad's most popular beach, Maracas Bay where you can relax and enjoy a delicious Bake and Shark.

Los Exploradorestt Tour Agency's service is exceptional. When I booked the Avocat Waterfall Tour, I honestly did not know what to expect. I was in Trinidad on business and snuck in some fun. I was also traveling alone, which I do often, and never know how these tours will go. Happily, the professionalism combined with Dominic's courteousness, kind touches and knowledge of the Island and nature made for a truly enjoyable experience. Dominic was there to pick me up promptly at 7AM. That does not seem like a big deal, right. Well, traffic in Trinidad is indescribable. A 10 minute drive turns into one hour because the traffic is so bad during the day. To ensure that he was not late, he got to my bed and breakfast at 5 AM and waited, so that we could start on time. I know he was there that early because the owner of the bed and breakfast had a conversation with him while he waited. So, that was the first example of the service.
When Dominic got out of the car to greet me, I immediately knew that I was in good hands. Not only was he professionally dressed, his manner was respectful and warm. He prepped me on our itinerary and made sure I was buckled in safely before we left. Safety is priority and he and his team are all first aid trained. Second example of the service.Nice touches included the thoughtfulness in the giving of a sunhat (which I used all day and included in my photos) and having water and fresh fruits for the ride and hike.
Dominic pointed out important sites, shared some of the Island's history and described various plants and tress along our drive. We stopped for photos at Maracas Lookout, Maracas Beach and Las Cuevas Beach before folks arrived and so it was like having the beaches to yourself. We also stopped for fresh coconut water in Blanchisseuse village and checked in at the local police station before heading toward the hike route - safety again.
The hike itself was not too challenging. Expect to get wet even if you don't stand under the waterfall. You cross the shallow water at several points during the walk. You definitely need closed shoes/sneakers with good grip. Flip flops won't work. I had decent walking sandals but I recommend light hiking shoes because it can get slippery in certain areas. I can't remember how long we walked but it wasn't bad at all - I am not an experienced hiker and over 40. The waterfall view is absolutely worth it! I had some anxiety about standing underneath it but Dominic was patient and guided me over to it. Best massage ever (from the water and not Dominic :-))!
Our next stop was Maracas Beach for delicious bake and shark and a dip in the beautiful blue water (I can't swim) and relaxing time soaking up the sun before heading on the road back. We made one final stop for souvenir shopping - mostly handmade jewelry and no pressure to buy. By this time there was traffic going back but Dominic was patient and safe getting me back to my bed and breakfast.
This is my first TripAdvisor review ever and I have traveled a fair bit and used several tour companies. Previously, I was never compelled to follow through on writing a review, even for pretty good companies. If you can't tell, I highly recommend this tour company. I had the pleasure of working with Dominic but I'm sure his other tour guides are just as fabulous. Dominic ensured that I was comfortable without being overbearing and he demonstrated that this is more than just a job for him. You won't be disappointed if you chose Los Exploradorestt Tour Agency for the Avocat Waterfall tour - or any other I imagine. This was more than just another excursion, it was an experience!
For me, there was healing in the waters of Avocat. Amazing views and it was peaceful and serene.
The next stop was the beautiful Maracas Beach! I had a chance to catch some sun and enjoyed the local fare, Bake and Shark, which was filling and delicious!
Let's not forget the best part of the experience, my host, Dominic! As a solo traveler he made me feel safe, had a wonderful spirit, and was extremely knowledgeable.

This was one of the best experience I’ve ever had. This was definitely the highlight of my trip to Trinidad. The waterfall is breathtaking! Our tour guide Jonathan was AMAZING! He was patient and helpful with us when hiking. It was a bit slippery but Jonathan was there every step of the way to make sure we did not hit ourselves. He took his time and educated us on the Forrest. He was very knowledgeable, personable and hands down one of the nicest people we’ve met on our trip! I totally recommend this hike!

Totally amazing experience. I’ve been to waterfalls before but this was absolutely the best hiking/waterfall experience I’ve ever had. Dominic is a gem and he goes way above and beyond to make sure the experience is everything you could want. He’s so knowledgeable and points out all the nature in the rainforest that I would have completely missed. Even though it was raining and the river was crazy high, I felt very safe with him as my guide. Also, he’s a pro at assembling a bake and shark was cannot not be missed as a Trinidad food. If you’re thinking about this tour, don’t hesitate. Honestly this is one of the best tour companies I’ve ever had and I’ve been traveling for decades.

Seriously, a must do if you're in Trinidad. The guide, Dominique (excuse my spelling if wrong) and his co-guide (my tour his wife) came on time to pick me up in POS. It turned out I was the only one but they completed the tour fully as if it was multiple people. They didn't cut corners. Besides the history you receive as you drive we did lookout, the waterfalls, basin at the top (weather and pathway permitted if clear), and stops to take picture. Co-guide turned out to be my co-photographer as well. I loved the tour and thank you guys. I will do it again next rime I'm here solo or with others. I tried to upload pics but the system wouldn't let me. Really awesome place and company to tour with.

Fabulous day trip with a fab guide Dominic. Would highly recommend this tour. The waterfall was virtually deserted when we got there and the hike was not challenging.
