Fun Calm Wildlife Watching

We had a great time touring the Caroni Swamp and Bird Sanctuary. Jade picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the boat embarkation location. The boat driver took us through the swamp, pointing out various snakes and birds along the way. In the bird sanctuary, we were able to watch flamingos. Then the boat moored for a while and we waited for the scarlet ibises and other birds to arrive to their safe islands a little before sunset. The birds arrived gradually in many groups of a few to a dozen. The boats returned quickly as it turned dark and then Jade drove us back to the hotel. All told it was a nice, chill time.
Swamp boat trip

I got picked up at the hotel by a very knowledgable guide/driver.
We went on a boat trip with other people, but it was comfortable enough. We have seen lots of nature, including scarlet ibis, herons, boa snakes.
Afterwards we also went around town and my guide gave me a detailed information of different historical buildings.
Highly recommended.

Fun in the swamp

Dominic was great guide! 3 pm tour is great time to see ibis, flamingos, other birds. Many ibis came in to roost for evening. Saw silky anteater, boa, lots of herons too. Great sunset over the mountains was a bonus!
